Common mistakes with Zoho Mail on GoDaddy
Using US MX values for a non-US account
The MX domain ending changes with your Zoho data center. If you signed up in the EU, India or another region, copy the values from your Admin Console.
Keeping old MX records with a low number
Records from a previous provider with equal or higher priority (such as 0 or 5) can stop mail reaching Zoho. Delete them.
GoDaddy: Delete old MX records and keep one SPF record
Remove every MX record left from your previous email service, including GoDaddy's own email if you used it. A leftover MX record can still receive your mail. For SPF, keep a single TXT record that starts with v=spf1: if one is already there, edit it instead of adding a second, because two SPF records break the SPF check.
GoDaddy: Type only the part before your domain
GoDaddy adds your domain to the Name automatically. Enter _dmarc or google._domainkey, not _dmarc.yourdomain.com, or the record ends up at a doubled name.
GoDaddy: Check MX records GoDaddy created for you
If you used GoDaddy's own option to create MX records for another provider, they may not match that provider's current values. Compare them with the values your email provider shows and replace any that differ.
Zoho Mail on GoDaddy: questions
Can Zoho add the DKIM record at GoDaddy for me too?
Yes. Add a DKIM selector in Zoho first (1024 or 2048 bits), then use Login to my DNS and Connect. The DKIM toggle turns on by itself, and it can’t be turned on until the selector is verified.
Where do I add Zoho Mail DNS records in GoDaddy?
Sign in to GoDaddy and open My Products. Under Domains, open the Portfolio tab. Select the three dots (...) next to your domain, then Edit DNS. Add each record there, one at a time.
What goes in the Name field at GoDaddy?
Enter @ for records on your bare domain, such as MX and SPF. For the others, enter only the part before your domain, for example _dmarc. GoDaddy adds your domain automatically.
Do I need to delete my existing MX records at GoDaddy?
Remove existing MX records first. Records from a previous provider with equal or higher priority (such as 0 or 5) can stop mail reaching Zoho. Remove every MX record left from your previous email service, including GoDaddy's own email if you used it. A leftover MX record can still receive your mail. For SPF, keep a single TXT record that starts with v=spf1: if one is already there, edit it instead of adding a second, because two SPF records break the SPF check. If you used GoDaddy's own option to create MX records for another provider, they may not match that provider's current values. Compare them with the values your email provider shows and replace any that differ.
Can Zoho Mail add the records at GoDaddy for me?
GoDaddy supports Domain Connect. Microsoft 365 and Zoho Mail can add the records for you after you sign in to GoDaddy and authorize. Use the manual steps if you want to control exactly when your MX records change.
How long until Zoho Mail works on GoDaddy?
MX changes can take an hour or two to take effect. SPF and DKIM can take 4 to 48 hours.
