Google Workspace + Wix
Set up Google Workspace email on Wix
The records Google Workspace needs, written with the field names Wix uses (Host Name, Points to, Value), in the order to add them.
- 5 steps
- 5 DNS records
Before you start
- Have your Google Workspace account ready. Some values are unique to your account and come from the Google Admin console .
- Open DNS at Wix: Sign in to Wix and select Domains in the left menu. Find your domain, select the three dots (...), then Manage DNS Records.
- Keep both tabs open and add the records below one at a time.
Records to add
Copy each value with the button next to it. Rows marked “Copy from Google Admin console” are unique to your account.
| Record | Type | Host Name | Value | Priority | TTL | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Domain verification Proves you own the domain | Type | TXT | Host Name | Leave empty | Value | Copy from Google Admin console Looks like: google-site-verification= followed by your unique code | Priority | n/a | TTL | Default |

Step by step in Wix
Verify your domain
Your email provider needs proof that you control this domain before it accepts email for it.
- Type
- TXT
- Host Name
- Leave this field empty
- Value
- Copy it from Google Admin console (see below)
Where to find your value
In the Google Admin console go to Menu > Account > Domains > Manage domains, click Verify domain, then Get started. In the TXT record section, copy the Value, including google-site-verification=.
It looks like: google-site-verification= followed by your unique code
- Leave the host blank or enter @.
- Once Google has verified the domain, this TXT record can be safely removed. Removing it earlier makes verification fail.

In Wix
- Select + Add Record in the TXT (Text) row.
- Leave Host Name blank for your bare domain, enter the Value and a TTL.
- Select Save.
Point your MX records
MX records tell other mail servers where to deliver your email. How MX works
- Type
- MX
- Host Name
- Leave this field empty
- Priority
- 1
- Points to
-
smtp.google.com
- Remove any other MX records. Email might not work correctly if old or incorrect MX records stay in place.

In Wix
- Under MX (Mail exchange), select connect a business email.
- Choose Other from the drop-down list, then + Add record.
- Enter the mail server in Points to and the Priority. Host Name fills in automatically.

Add the SPF record
SPF lists the services allowed to send email as you. How SPF works
- Type
- TXT
- Host Name
- Leave this field empty
- Value
-
v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all
- If other services also send email for your domain, list each one in the same record, for example: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:amazonses.com ~all.

Set up DKIM
DKIM signs your mail so receivers can trust it. How DKIM works
- Type
- TXT
- Host Name
-
google._domainkey - Value
- Copy it from Google Admin console (see below)
Where to find your value
In the Google Admin console go to Menu > Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail and click Authenticate email. Select your domain, generate a new record (2048-bit if your domain host supports it, otherwise 1024-bit) and copy the TXT record value.
- After the record is published, go back to Authenticate email and turn on authentication for the domain.

Add the DMARC record (recommended)
DMARC tells receivers what to do with mail that fakes your domain. How DMARC works
- Type
- TXT
- Host Name
-
_dmarc - Value
-
v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.com
- Start with p=none so nothing is blocked while you read the reports. Google suggests running it for about a week.

Common mistakes with Google Workspace on Wix
Leaving old MX records in place
Google says email might not work correctly if old or incorrect MX records stay. Remove every MX record except smtp.google.com.
Adding a second SPF record
A domain must have only one SPF record. If you already have one, add include:_spf.google.com to it instead of creating another.
Wix: Add SPF in the TXT row
Wix's DNS editor has a separate SPF row. Microsoft's Wix guide says to ignore it and add the SPF value in the TXT (Text) row instead.
